Timed to coincide with the Light Rail Summit in Birmingham, the latest meeting of the UKTram Engineering Group also saw topical discussions on a range of challenges faced across the sector.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>39 engineers \u2013 representing networks, suppliers and other organisations from across the UK \u2013 joined the meeting which also saw an update from the LRSSB.<\/p>\n<p>Philip Terry, Lead Engineer at UKTram, said: \u201cAs always, the meeting was well attended, with many participants attending in person and some online. Due to the summit taking place the following day, we were unable to stage one of our usual \u2018best practice\u2019 session. However, there was adequate opportunity for discussions on a range of hot topics, including the recent use of weld restoration for grooved rail gauge corners and its benefit to the sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe meeting also provided the ideal opportunity to examine the benefits of innovative new products available to the sector, such as simple but effective condition monitoring of assets using onboard kits from a range of suppliers.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A well-attended meeting of light rail engineers has helped to showcase a range of innovative products designed to enhance asset management and safety.
