This summer seems to have been the summer of improvement works across UK tramways and whilst most others have now finished Manchester Metrolink is on another phase with a three week project on Mosley Street in Manchester City Centre.<\/p>\n

The works got underway on Tuesday 27th<\/sup> August (the day after the bank holiday) and are due to be completed on Monday 16th<\/sup> September. During this period work is taking place on Mosley Street which means no trams can run between St Peter\u2019s Square and Piccadilly Gardens and Market Street meaning more service changes.<\/p>\n

The highlights of the changes are all trams from Bury running to Altrincham and travelling via 2CC, trams from Ashton-under-Lyne heading to Crumpsall, Eccles services running as far as Deansgate-Castlefield, a Victoria to Ethihad Campus service and trams from the Airport terminating at Deansgate-Castlefield and from The Trafford Centre at Cornbrook.<\/p>\n

Further down Mosley Street adjacent to Charlotte Street a short length of rail was being replaced. The welded joint nearest the camera had just been made and was cooling before being cleaned up and ground to profile.
