{"id":55160,"date":"2024-09-01T17:00:26","date_gmt":"2024-09-01T16:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=55160"},"modified":"2024-09-01T10:22:56","modified_gmt":"2024-09-01T09:22:56","slug":"manchester-metrolink-then-now-princess-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=55160","title":{"rendered":"Manchester Metrolink Then &#038; Now: Princess Street"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We return to \u201cManchester Metrolink Then &amp; Now\u201d after a brief break last week and we are again on 2CC in Manchester City Centre.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Manchester\u2019s Second City Crossing (2CC) fully opened to trams on 26<sup>th<\/sup> February 2017 and provides a second route across the city between St Peter\u2019s Square and Victoria. It was required for capacity reasons due to the number of different services which now run between these stops and also provides a useful diversionary route. The track layout here was completely reworked for the opening of 2CC and now features a four track layout with two tracks going onto 2CC and the others to 1CC. The Victoria bound 2CC track is in the foreground. Manchester Town Hall is under renovation on the left and The Waterhouse is just the other side of the tram.
