Essential work is underway on Manchester Metrolink with rail replacement taking place in the city centre. The latest phase of work started on Wednesday 24th<\/sup> July and will see almost a month of service changes with the completion date set as Monday 19th<\/sup> August. The work is on Market Street and at Shudehill and means that no trams are able to travel via 1CC (the original city crossing) to allow the safe completion of the work.<\/p>\n

This is just the latest phase of works planned for the Metrolink network this year and is part of major investment which won\u2019t only take place over the summer but also for years to come. As TfGM have said its to make sure the network remains safe and reliable and that does mean there will be some disruption over the summer holiday period, a traditional time for major works on UK tramways with fewer passengers travelling than at other times of the year.<\/p>\n

On Mosley Street the points on the curve from Piccadilly Gardens towards Market Street have been prepared for renewal with the paving sawn ready for removal.<\/p><\/div>\n

Similarly at Market Street stop the points at the end of the platform have been prepared for replacement.<\/p><\/div>\n

Now looking towards Shudehill from Nicholas Croft the rails on the curve across Shudehill have been removed and work is progressing towards installing new rail.<\/p><\/div>\n
