{"id":54614,"date":"2024-07-21T17:00:07","date_gmt":"2024-07-21T16:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=54614"},"modified":"2024-07-20T17:05:17","modified_gmt":"2024-07-20T16:05:17","slug":"manchester-metrolink-then-now-st-peters-square","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=54614","title":{"rendered":"Manchester Metrolink Then &#038; Now: St Peter\u2019s Square"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For this next edition of \u201cManchester Metrolink Then &amp; Now\u201d we head to a very familiar location which has had countless photos taken of over the years at the hub of the network.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>St Peter\u2019s Square is now well known as the junction four platform stop where trams can either take the original city crossing along Mosley Street or go via the Second City Crossing along Princess Street. The Central Library was designed by E Vincent Harris and constructed between 1930 and 1934 in the Corinthian order and Tuscan order style. The tramstop has been rebuilt and it is now a four track layout. But despite all that the Central Library helps us identify that we are definitely in the same place.
