Nottingham Express Transit have raised more than \u00a31,000 for Nottingham Central Women\u2019s Aid. 35 staff from the tram company walked the entire length of its 12.4 mile network raising vital funds for the charity, who are NET\u2019s chosen charity this year.<\/p>\n

The walk started at Hucknall tram stop and then walked past notable Nottingham landmarks and tram stops such as Royal Centre, The Forest and Meadows Embankment before ending at Clifton South Park and Ride.<\/p>\n
Rebecca Horne, Business Engagement Manager at NET, said: \u201cOur tram network is a core part of Nottingham\u2019s landscape. As such, we are always looking for ways to help our vulnerable population in need of support and Nottingham Central Women\u2019s Aid is a key example of this, as it continues to carry out pivotal work to support those who need it in our city.\u00a0\u00a0Each year, our chosen charity is decided through nominations from our team. This year, we had more than 10 incredibly worthy nominees before a decision was made through voting. While Nottingham Central Women\u2019s Aid is our main charity in 2024, we will also be supporting a number of other charities close to our hearts as we continue with our charity initiatives throughout the year.\u201d<\/p>\n
NET will continue their fundraising efforts for the charity throughout the remainder of the year. They also have a number of partnerships with community groups such as The Pythian Club, which aims to reduce and provide education on anti-social behaviour across Nottingham\u2019s trams and beyond.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
