{"id":54234,"date":"2024-06-22T18:00:57","date_gmt":"2024-06-22T17:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=54234"},"modified":"2024-06-16T08:31:05","modified_gmt":"2024-06-16T07:31:05","slug":"around-the-world-in-trams-ostrava-21-218","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=54234","title":{"rendered":"Around the World in Trams: Ostrava 21 &#038; 218"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back to Ostrava again for this edition of \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>During this October 2023 trip, John Moore was part of a charter which saw motor <strong>21<\/strong> and trailer <strong>218<\/strong> hired for a trip around the system. This included travelling around one of the depots, which is not only linked to the tramway but also the national rail network.<\/p>\n<p>Both these trams are part of the museum fleet with motor <strong>21<\/strong> having been built in 1922 as a SMMD 2-axle motor car. It remained in service until 1964 when it was taken out of service and converted into what is described as a children\u2019s tram and called Barborka. Its now part of the museum fleet and was refurbished in 2000\/1.<\/p>\n<p>The trailer is no. <strong>218<\/strong> which was built in 1951.
