The Virtual Track Awareness software aims to built on the success of a similar hazard perception system employed during tram driver training.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The software \u2013 which can be run on almost any computer \u2013 has been developed by the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB) in partnership with simulator specialists AVANSIM and UKTram. It will provide a safe environment to raise awareness of potential risks faced by track workers.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Duckering, UKTram Operations Manager, led the project on behalf of the LRSSB and he commented: \u201cIncorporating suggestions from members of the UKTram Operators Group, the tool is capable of recording test scores that can be used to assess an individual\u2019s awareness of risks and suitability for working in what can be a hazardous environment.
