A 9 year old from Birmingham has been congratulated after winning the competition to design a logo to help the West Midlands Metro celebrate their 25th<\/sup> anniversary later this year. Pargunn Kaur Birring, who attends Wattville Primary School in Birmingham, was selected by judges after a close fought competition.<\/p>\n

Well over 200 entries were received from primary school children across the region and Pargunn\u2019s was decided to be the best in what was describe as an almost impossible decision.<\/p>\n

Sophie Allison, Metro Managing Director, said: \u201cThe quality of the submissions was fantastic, and they reflected the artistic talent to be found across the region. But, in the end, there could only be one winner and I am delighted to be welcoming Pargunn to our Wednesbury depot over the next few weeks. A quarter of a century since trams returned to Birmingham and Wolverhampton, they are as popular as ever, and we would like to thank everyone who showed their support by entering the competition.\u201d<\/p>\n

The school wins \u00a3500 with Pargunn and her classmates invited to a tour around Wednesbury Depot. The logo will be displayed on the side of a tram and Metro merchandise will be produced as the network celebrates 25 years on 30th<\/sup> May.<\/p>\n
