{"id":53780,"date":"2025-03-16T08:00:33","date_gmt":"2025-03-16T08:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=53780"},"modified":"2025-03-12T20:27:44","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T20:27:44","slug":"in-pictures-birmingham-and-midlands-tramway-12-at-blists-hill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=53780","title":{"rendered":"In Pictures: Birmingham and Midlands Tramway 12 at Blists Hill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another tram, long withdrawn and now used for a different purpose can be seen at the Blists Hill Victorian Town. <strong>Birmingham and Midlands Tramway 12<\/strong> has been a long-time resident at the museum (in fact its been there longer than it was in service!).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>12<\/strong> was built as a double decker in 1904 for the Birmingham and Midlands Tramway by Brush. As with the majority of tramways across the Black Country it was a 3\u20196\u201d gauge tramway, surviving until 1939. Information suggests it was withdrawn by 1928 and converted into a Sunday School but its not known exactly when it moved to Blists Hill, but was certainly there by the 1970s.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_53781\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=53781\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-53781\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-53781\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-53781\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/12-db-550x413.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/12-db-550x413.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/12-db-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/12-db-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/12-db.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-53781\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Originally painted green at the museum, it subsequently received a coat of dark red paint which as seen in this view has now started to peel. Its got \u201cGOSPEL CAR &amp; SUNDAY SCHOOL\u201d written on the side panels.
