{"id":53588,"date":"2024-05-01T20:00:11","date_gmt":"2024-05-01T19:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=53588"},"modified":"2024-05-01T19:26:20","modified_gmt":"2024-05-01T18:26:20","slug":"whole-host-of-rail-replacement-work-announced-for-metrolink-this-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=53588","title":{"rendered":"Whole host of rail replacement work announced for Metrolink this summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It will be another summer of major rail replacement works on Manchester Metrolink with work due to take place at various locations in the city centre starting in June and continuing through until September (although not constant and service changes will change to reflect where the work is happening).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Almost \u00a3150 million will be invested on maintain and upgrading the entire Metrolink network in the three years until 2027. The work is necessary to ensure the tram system remains safe, reliable and accessible and funding for this comes from the government\u2019s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement.<\/p>\n<p>As previously announced work will get underway on Bank Holiday Monday 6<sup>th<\/sup> May where the broken rail which has prevented trams from running between Exchange Square and Victoria since January will be replaced.
