Whilst the big headline news was the joining up of the current line with the extension to Dudley at Wednesbury as we\u2019ve already seen at the same time there was more work undertaken on the existing line with rail replacement at various stops. This work is still ongoing during evening. At the time of this image the tramway was clearly closed as the bridge was worked on. Pedestrian access on the steps was closed off.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_53366\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=53366\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-53366\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-53366\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-53366\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/6.51-aw-550x305.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"305\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-53366\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The evening before services resumed 51 was sent out as a test tram to make sure that everything was fine with the newly installed infrastructure. The tram is under close supervision here.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_53367\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=53367\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-53367\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-53367\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-53367\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/7.hawthorns-aw-550x276.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"276\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-53367\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At The Hawthorns and trams are running again on the new track. The pedestrian crossing has also been reinstalled.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_53368\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=53368\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-53368\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-53368\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-53368\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/8.message-aw-550x278.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"278\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-53368\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Drivers have been instructed to release doors on the trams but not to automatically open the doors which has led a scrolling message to be displayed on the destination display. The messages says \u201cTo exit the tram, please press the illuminated button\u201d. Part of that message is seen here.
