{"id":53299,"date":"2024-04-26T20:00:03","date_gmt":"2024-04-26T19:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=53299"},"modified":"2024-04-26T19:38:11","modified_gmt":"2024-04-26T18:38:11","slug":"dogs-on-west-midlands-metro-trial-a-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=53299","title":{"rendered":"Dogs on West Midlands Metro trial a success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well-behaved dogs will still be able to travel on the West Midlands Metro after it was announced that the extended trial has been a success and would be extended permanently.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>An initial three month trial was launched in August 2023 and this was subsequently extended by a further three months to allow more feedback to be received from the public and employees.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the trial only assistance dogs were allowed on board the Metro but after positive feedback the Conditions of Carriage have been changed as from 1<sup>st<\/sup> April to allow dogs on board. This allows each fare paying customer to travel on board with one dog on a lead. Owners must adhere to the published guidance and take responsibility for their dog\u2019s behaviour, ensuring they remain off the seats and cleaning up any mess they create.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Stanley, Metro\u2019s Head of Operations and Safety, said: \u201cSince pet dogs were first allowed on board our trams, we\u2019ve not had any reports of serious problems and had a very positive debate about our future policy. We would like to thank all those who submitted their views, both for and against.
