{"id":53090,"date":"2024-04-12T20:00:28","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T19:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=53090"},"modified":"2024-04-12T18:10:34","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T17:10:34","slug":"in-pictures-track-down-in-digbeth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=53090","title":{"rendered":"In Pictures: Track down in Digbeth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The press releases on the Birmingham Eastside West Midlands Metro extension keep telling us about the progress being made on the construction of the route in various locations whilst also reminding us that it will be some time before trams actually start running because of the HS2 works at Curzon Street. Whilst we do have the promise that it won\u2019t quite be as late as it might for some of the route with a temporary terminus due to be built by the Clayton Hotel there do remain significant sections of the 1.7km long route which will not be seeing a tram for some time.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>One of those sections is by Birmingham Coach Station \u2013 one of the big selling points of this line is that it will give good interchange with both the Coach Station as well as the aforementioned HS2 Railway Station \u2013 where there has been excellent progress on both the laying of tracks and also putting down the final road surface.<\/p>\n<p>Birmingham Coach Station is the \u201cwrong\u201d side of Curzon Street so this track will have to wait a considerable time before it sees any trams running it.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_53091\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=53091\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-53091\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-53091\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-53091\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1.digbeth-cab-550x367.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1.digbeth-cab-550x367.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1.digbeth-cab-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1.digbeth-cab-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1.digbeth-cab.jpg 1296w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-53091\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">With Birmingham Coach Station in the background, this is Meriden Street which is currently the limit of track installation (this is to the city centre side of the line).
