One volunteer from across the West Midlands could be celebrating soon with a tram on the West Midlands Metro network named after them as part of a new campaign. Launched by the West Midlands Lieutenancy the 50forWM50 campaign seeks to recognise and thank volunteers across the region who make real differences to their communities.<\/p>\n

2024 marks the 50th<\/sup> anniversary of the creation of the West Midlands county and the West Midlands Lieutenancy and a number of celebrations are planned with the 50forWM50 campaign at the centre of this.<\/p>\n The campaign is urging members of the public to nominate a local volunteer hero between March and April 2024. There\u2019s no limit on the age of the volunteer nor how long they have been volunteering \u2013 it could be one month, one year or even 50 years! It just has to be someone from one of the seven West Midlands local authorities \u2013 Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.<\/p>\n All nominations received will then be reviewed by a dedicated judging panel and 50 from each area will be invited to a \u201cBig Thank You Bash\u201d in June. Those 350 will then be further narrowed down to 50 and then there will be one overall winner.
