When it was announced there was to be a crackdown on enforcement of parking rules at Park and Ride sites across the Nottingham Express Transit network it was mentioned that a percentage of the fines paid would go to charity and now, in the lead up to Christmas, it has been confirmed that the Pythian Club has been the recipient of a donation. NET and the Pythian Club have a long standing history of collaborating and this cash injection will boost a project refurbishing bicycles which can be used by young people to get to college or work.<\/p>\n

NET have donated \u00a32,500 to this project with some of the cash also set to go towards the purchase of football boots and England kits to encourage youngsters to participate in sport and to become coaches themselves.<\/p>\n
Trevor Stocker, NET Head of Operations, said: \u201cFor the past six years, we\u2019ve supported the club\u2019s invaluable work with young people at risk of being affected by poverty, domestic abuse, drug use or mental health issues.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has played an important role in helping to tackle anti-social behaviour on and around the tram network. Meanwhile, the enforcement patrols have helped to free up parking spaces for our customers, who frequently tell us they want firm action taken against a small minority who make life more difficult for everyone else, particularly those with restricted mobility.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe money raised from these activities covers the cost of the patrols, with any surplus donated to worthy causes, such as the Pythian Club.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ben Rosser, Pythian Club founder, said: \u201cWithout the support of organisations such as NET, this work just wouldn\u2019t be possible, and we\u2019re really grateful for all they have done for us. This latest donation will help us continue providing positive pathways for young people, enabling them to engage with the wider community in a constructive way.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt also builds on the work we have been doing as part of an acclaimed \u2018You v Tram\u2019 safety campaign, which has seen us working with NET to highlight the importance of safety around the tram network.\u201d<\/p>\n
