K is for KLV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>And if you thought the letter J was a bit of a struggle to find something for we had even more trouble with the letter K!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In the end the only thing related to a tramway in the British Isles we could come up was the Croydon Tramlink KLV which is now in use at the Crich Tramway Village. Built in 1978 for Deutsche Bahn it was constructed as a general maintenance works vehicle for the German railways and it wasn\u2019t anyway connected to tramways until 2006 when Croydon Tramlink purchased two of the KLV 53 class for use as works vehicles there \u2013 three trailers were also obtained at the same time. <strong>058<\/strong> and trailer <strong>061<\/strong> arrived at Crich in 2010 having been deemed surplus to requirements by Transport for London.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_51965\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=51965\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-51965\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-51965\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-51965\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/k-gp-550x367.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/k-gp-550x367.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/k-gp-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/k-gp-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/k-gp.jpg 1296w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-51965\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Whilst acquired by Crich to be used as a works vehicle, during special event the KLV often makes it out onto the mainline and a small number of passengers are able to be carried. This was on one such occasion with 058 (minus its trailer) passes Victoria Park when heading north.
