The campaign comes with the darker winter months in full swing, at a time when more safety incidents are seen.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The campaign will see posts on Edinburgh Trams\u2019 social media accounts as well as new signage at key locations. This includes signs reminding cyclists to use dedicated cycle lanes, to keep a safe distance from the tram tracks and to cross tram tracks at 90 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Ross Crawford, Edinburgh Trams\u2019 Assistant Safety Manager, said: \u201cWe\u2019re committed to achieving the highest safety standards, and this latest initiative \u00a0builds on the work we\u2019ve already done to make cycling near the tramway as safe as possible. This includes highlighting the importance of using the designated crossings and always crossing tramlines at a 90-degree angle to stop the cycle wheels from potentially getting stuck in the rail grooves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s now nearly six months since trams started to serve some of Edinburgh\u2019s most densely populated areas, following the launch of services to Newhaven, so this campaign will act as a timely reminder to both local residents and visitors of some useful advice for cyclists to avoid getting into difficulties.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Edinburgh Trams have launched another safety campaign which is urging cyclists to take extra care when riding close to the tram network.
