{"id":51596,"date":"2023-11-11T18:00:15","date_gmt":"2023-11-11T18:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=51596"},"modified":"2023-11-10T19:33:04","modified_gmt":"2023-11-10T19:33:04","slug":"around-the-world-in-trams-stuttgart-1001","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=51596","title":{"rendered":"Around the World in Trams: Stuttgart 1001"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d is staying in Stuttgart for this latest photo from outside of the British Isles.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We mentioned in last week\u2019s article that as well as a light rail\u00a0 system, the city of Stuttgart also has a rack railway which operates as part of their public transport network. This is a 1.4 mile (2.2km) line which runs on metre gauge and climbs a height of 205 metres. It opened in 1884 at which time it was steam operated and that was how it remained until 1921.
