{"id":51559,"date":"2023-11-10T18:00:39","date_gmt":"2023-11-10T18:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=51559"},"modified":"2023-11-05T10:19:31","modified_gmt":"2023-11-05T10:19:31","slug":"picture-in-time-sheffield-189-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=51559","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Sheffield 189"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another edition of \u201cPicture in Time\u201d goes to Crich on a 1979 Bank Holiday Monday.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Taken on Bank Holiday Monday, 27<sup>th<\/sup> August 1979, this photo shows one of the Sheffield tramcars in the national collection \u2013 <strong>189<\/strong>. Built in 1934, <strong>189<\/strong> was one of 210 \u201cStandard\u201d cars constructed by Sheffield Corporation in their own workshops and it would remain part of the operating fleet in the steel city until 1958 when it was taken out of service. At that time it was donated to some early Tramway Museum Society members but stayed stored in Sheffield which meant that come 1960 and the closure of the Sheffield system it was able to take part in the closing procession.
