Dennis Roberts made an emotional trip to the Crich Tramway Village on Tuesday 26th<\/sup> September. Dennis, 91, was a conductor on the trams in Leeds and met his wife Margaet on the trams in 1954 so the visit brought back memories from him of his youth.<\/p>\n

Dennis\u2019s family had asked if it would possible to run a Leeds tram on the day on his visit and the team at Crich were happy to oblige with not one but two in service \u2013 180<\/strong> and 399<\/strong>. He was also able to visit the depots were he saw 602<\/strong> on display.<\/p>\n

Dennis and Margaret met in 1954 when he was a tram conductor and she was a passenger with the couple then marrying two years later. They have now been married for 56 years.<\/p>\n

Christine Hemingborough, Dennis and Margaret\u2019s daughter, said: \u201cMy parents have been married for 67 years this year. Dad is 91 and Mum 90, sadly Mum has dementia and has been in a home since the start of Covid in March 2020. We visit her every week although she does not recognise us now. The visit brought back many happy memories for him of their early days of courting and the staff and volunteers were so kind to him giving him special treatment and making him feel so welcome. He enjoyed himself immensely.\u201d<\/p>\n
