Each year the Tramway Museum Society \u2013 who own and operate the National Tramway Museum at Crich Tramway Village \u2013 appoint a President who officiates at special events and attend meetings which help to guide the direction of the Society. Recently the appointment for 2023\/4 has been made with Sue Whiteley taking the role from outgoing President Bob Pennyfather.<\/p>\n

Sue Whitely has been a volunteer at Crich since 1997 and a conductor since 2002. Sue, from Macclesfield, started as a volunteer in the Workshop alongside husband Peter, and they both regularly maintain the trams as well as crewing together.<\/p>\n
When asked about she likes most about her volunteering role, Sue said: \u201cI actually like cleaning the trams. It gives you a great sense of satisfaction when you can see a positive result.\u201d<\/p>\n
Karen Rigg, Chairman of the Tramway Museum Society, said: \u201cWe are very pleased to welcome Sue as our President to represent the Society for the coming year and I look forward to working closely with her\u201d.<\/p>\n
