{"id":50175,"date":"2023-07-08T10:00:26","date_gmt":"2023-07-08T09:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=50175"},"modified":"2023-07-07T19:52:33","modified_gmt":"2023-07-07T18:52:33","slug":"west-midlands-metro-support-acocks-green-tram-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=50175","title":{"rendered":"West Midlands Metro support Acocks Green Tram Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last month saw Acocks Green Library celebrate the 70<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the closure of Birmingham Corporation Tramway\u2019s last routes with a special Tram Day featuring an extensive collection of model trams \u2013 and the West Midlands Metro were also on hand to help commemorate the occasion.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>West Midlands Metro attended the event to give information about the expanding modern tram network and there was the chance to take away merchandise, including miniature trams, pens and other goodies.<\/p>\n<p>On top of this there were several stunning displays of vintage model trams as well as original tram memorabilia, some local historical network and family craft activities.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Reading-Skilton, Metro Commercial Manager, said: \u201cWhen we heard about this fascinating exhibition, we were really keen to get involved. Trams have played such an important part in the history of the area, and today tens of thousands of people once again rely on them for both work and pleasure.
