Firstly, the long awaited extension to Newhaven opened and now they have won at the Scottish Transport Awards in the Public Transport Operator of the Year category.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The ceremony for the Scottish Transport Awards took place in Glasgow on Thursday 22<sup>nd<\/sup> June and that was when the firm discovered that they had won in this category. The judges were impressed with the \u201cGlide to the Future\u201d campaign which was launched ahead of the opening of the Newhaven extension to engage with the public about the new line.<\/p>\n<p>Lea Harrison, Edinburgh Trams Manging Director, said: \u201cTo be awarded \u2018Public Transport Operator of the Year\u2019 shows how committed our highly skilled workforce is to ensuring visitors and residents alike choose to take the tram for work or leisure, whilst maintaining the highest safety and customer service standards.
