{"id":48805,"date":"2023-03-24T18:00:18","date_gmt":"2023-03-24T18:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=48805"},"modified":"2023-03-18T18:17:11","modified_gmt":"2023-03-18T18:17:11","slug":"picture-in-time-blackpool-boat-605","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=48805","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Blackpool Boat 605"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is the last Blackpool based \u201cPicture in Time\u201d for this batch of photos as we enter August 1977 for a view on the Promenade.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It was a sunny August day when <strong>Boat Car 605<\/strong> was captured in this photo heading north and just approaching Talbot Square\/North Pier. The shelter to the left is definitely not a tramstop \u2013 the sign hanging from it tells us as much! Its also a fairly lightly loaded journey, the delights of an Open Boat ride along the clifftop to Bispham obviously wasn\u2019t as appealing as it might be on this summer\u2019s day.<\/p>\n<p>Of note in this photo is some of the illuminations which formed part of a section of lights celebrating the 150<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway In 1975. They were also used to celebrate 150 years since the 1829 Rainhill Trials and the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 1830. The illuminations were designed by Alan Cockcroft, the Illuminations designer from 1969 to 1987.
