{"id":48226,"date":"2023-02-03T18:00:21","date_gmt":"2023-02-03T18:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=48226"},"modified":"2023-02-03T18:54:10","modified_gmt":"2023-02-03T18:54:10","slug":"picture-in-time-south-yorkshire-supertram-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=48226","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: South Yorkshire Supertram 17"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today \u201cPicture in Time\u201d is again in South Yorkshire as we take a look at a couple of images taken in 1995 of one of the original trams built by Siemens-Duewag.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>By the time of Tony Sullivan\u2019s visit to Sheffield on 9<sup>th<\/sup> March 1995, <strong>17<\/strong> had been in South Yorkshire for very nearly a year having been delivered to Nunnery Depot on 21<sup>st<\/sup> March 1994. It was the seventeenth trams to arrive (by this stage they were coming in number order) and as with all others it entered service in the original fleet livery.<\/p>\n<p>In this first image we see <strong>17<\/strong> running down Ridgeway Road <em>(corrected since publication)<\/em> to what was then the terminus at Shalesmoor. Shalesmoor had only been reached on 27<sup>th<\/sup> February 1995 and it would be until 23<sup>rd<\/sup> October 1995 that trams would get any further along what are now the Blue and Yellow routes to Malin Bridge and Middlewood \u2013 the final sections of the original system.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=48227\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-48227\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-48227\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/1.17-ts-550x357.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/1.17-ts-550x357.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/1.17-ts-1024x665.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/1.17-ts-768x499.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/1.17-ts.jpg 1298w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The other way trams were only going as far as Gleadless Town End and that\u2019s where we see <strong>17<\/strong> again in this shot.
