As work continues on the \u00a370 million redevelopment of Gosforth Depot on the Tyne and Wear Metro there will be two weekend line closures in January and February to facilitate further works. Stadler will be replacing track, overhead lines and signals at the eastern end of the depot site during this work to prepare it for the arrival of the first new trains, which are due to be delivered from this winter.<\/p>\n

The line closures will be as follows:<\/p>\n
In addition to the works being undertaken by Stadler, Nexus will be taking advantage of the closures to complete track and overhead line improvements and vegetation clearance on other areas of the network.<\/p>\n
Stuart Clarke, Metro Infrastructure Director, said: \u201cA huge amount of work is being packed into these two weekends, including essential maintenance and vital works by Stadler as they look to complete the next phase of \u00a370m Metro depot project. We always try to work at weekends in order to minimise the amount of disruption to customers, and I apologise in advance for any inconvenience these line closures cause.\u00a0Replacement buses will be provided and our advice is allow plenty of extra time if you\u2019re making a journey through the affected area on either of the two weekends when there are closures of line.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
