{"id":48090,"date":"2023-01-17T21:00:34","date_gmt":"2023-01-17T21:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=48090"},"modified":"2023-01-17T18:51:40","modified_gmt":"2023-01-17T18:51:40","slug":"in-pictures-48-breakdown-on-west-midlands-metro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=48090","title":{"rendered":"In Pictures: 48 breakdown on West Midlands Metro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It may be the newest tram to be running in the UK but that doesn\u2019t mean that its immune to breaking down \u2013 <strong>West Midlands Metro Urbos100 48<\/strong> came to a halt just after departing Soho Benson Road on Saturday 14<sup>th<\/sup> January leading to disruption on the network and the fairly rare sight of another tram being called upon to tow it back to depot.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>48<\/strong> \u2013 which entered passenger service for the first time on 4<sup>th<\/sup> January 2023 \u2013 was heading towards Wolverhampton and had just departed from Soho Benson Road at around 1400 when it failed. The aftermath of the breakdown showed a significant amount of oil over the track.<\/p>\n<p>With engineers sent to the scene the ultimate decision was that in order to return <strong>48<\/strong> to depot it would be necessary for it to be towed and fellow <strong>Urbos100 40<\/strong> was eventually sent to the scene to perform the rescue. It wasn\u2019t until around 1720 that the pair made it back to Wednesbury.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst the stricken <strong>48<\/strong> was on the track at Soho Benson Road, a split service operated.
