For the next few editions of \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d we are heading to Innsbruck in Austria where its not just the trams which are impressive but also the surrounding scenery.<\/p>\n

There are slightly over 12 miles of route miles of tramway in Innsbruck which can be found in the Tirol region of Austria in central Europe. The first electric trams had run in Innsbruck in 1905 and the system \u2013 which runs on metre gauge track \u2013 is operated by Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe und Stubaitaitabahn. The tracks are also shared by the Stubai Valley Railway (Stubaitaitabahn) within the city centre.<\/p>\n

The tramway has a fleet of Bombardier Flexity Outlook trams which were introduced from 2008 and includes some which have only delivered in 2019 and 2020. It is one of the earlier examples that is featured in the below photo as 311<\/strong> is seen operating on route 3. The impressive scenery is seen here with the street towered over by a spectacular mountain. Oh and the Austrian version of Aldi \u2013 Hofer \u2013 is alongside the tram!<\/p>\n
