Nexus are introducing a \u00a32 fare cap on single tickets and \u00a34 on all day travel to match the government funded scheme on local buses across the country.<\/p>\n

Pop Pay As You Go can be taken advantage of either by using the free smartcard or through Google Pay on Android smartphones. The fare cap has been in place since 2nd<\/sup> January but only applies to tickets purchased through the above methods \u2013 paper tickets will still cost the standard amount.<\/p>\n Huw Lewis, Nexus Customer Services Director, said: \u201cIf you don\u2019t want to pay more for Metro travel in 2023 then it\u2019s really easy \u2013 switch to Pop Pay As You Go, or get the Google Pay option if you\u2019re on an Android smartphone. We strongly encourage customers to think about making the switch to ensure that they take advantage of the biggest savings we have on offer.\u00a0From January 2 all single journeys on pay as you go will be capped \u00a32, and all-day travel will be capped at \u00a34. All you need to do is download the Google Pay app or apply for a Pop card on the Nexus website to enjoy the benefits of the fare cap.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u00a32 cap gives n adult a saving of up to 38% on a single journey with an all-zone single ticket costing \u00a33.25 when using Pop.
