Last week saw the news that the East Anglia Transport Museum had increased their tram collection by a further two examples with the transfer of Blackpool duo, Brush 625<\/strong> and Balloon 726<\/strong>. Previously owned by the Fylde Transport Trust the two trams were donated to the East Anglia Transport Museum and made their moves east on 21st<\/sup> and 28th<\/sup> November respectively. Having now reached their new home they have met up with the other recent Blackpool acquisition, Brush Car 290<\/strong> as well as the other varied trams in the fleet at Carlton Coville.<\/p>\n

With the museum now having two tram depots \u2013 the second one which continues to see work take place to finish the structure but does have track in place to allow for undercover storage of some of the trams \u2013 there is plenty of storage space for the new arrivals. Ahead of 726<\/strong>\u2019s delivery both Brush Cars were moved to the new (west) tram depot to allow the Balloon Car to be unloaded and stored in the old depot and to be put over the inspection pit.<\/p>\n

All three new Blackpool trams which are now in their new home will require attention before they can be considered for operation again. It was 2010 the last time that 726<\/strong> ran, 2009 for 290<\/strong> (briefly) and 625<\/strong> last ran in 2004. Plans are in place to work on them but it is not likely to be a short-term fix so it will be a good things come to those who wait situation for the trams.<\/p>\n
