As we are now officially in autumn the weather seems to be following suit with the hot temperatures of the summer seemingly now but a distant memory with cooler and wetter weather now prevalent. For Beamish this means that there is more use of the enclosed trams which at the moment means Sunderland 16<\/strong> and Oporto 196<\/strong> are seeing more usage with Blackpool 31<\/strong> and Newcastle 114<\/strong> taking a bit of a breather during midweek opening. In this article we take a look at a typical midweek autumn day with photos from Trevor Hall.<\/p>\n

The enclosed trams seen together at Foulbridge with Sunderland 16 closest to the camera and Oporto 196 on the other side.<\/p><\/div>\n

Beamish have now started doing transport history talks to primary school groups. This includes a penny farthing bike in the bus depot, a look at an old car and a hands on talk about how locals used to get about. Newcastle 114 was used for the talk on this day and was stabled outside the depot for this purpose.<\/p><\/div>\n

Into the tram depot and Blackpool 31 takes a rest. Alongside is Gateshead 10 which continues its overhaul with a view to returning to service next year. Scaffolding has now been erected around the tramcar to allow safe working on the roof.<\/p><\/div>\n
