{"id":46470,"date":"2022-09-24T18:00:42","date_gmt":"2022-09-24T17:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=46470"},"modified":"2022-09-20T20:39:34","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T19:39:34","slug":"around-the-world-in-trams-geneva-895","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=46470","title":{"rendered":"Around the World in Trams: Geneva 895"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the next few weeks our location for \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d will be Geneva in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Trams first ran in Geneva in 1862 and saw a gradual expansion to its maximum length in 1920. However, as seen across Europe and beyond, there were then a lot of line closures which meant by 1960 it consisted it one solitary line. But there\u2019s an epilogue for this story as from 1995 there have been more lines opening which has seen it reach a 22 mile (36km) length across five routes.<\/p>\n<p>This photo, taken on 26<sup>th<\/sup> April 2018, shows Bombardier Flexity Outlook <strong>895<\/strong> on a route 18 service from Bachet to CERN close to the stop at Maisonnex.
