The below article is the original published in early September.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>With significant closure anniversaries in London and Glasgow being reached this year it will probably come as no surprise that the two tramways will feature heavily in Tram Day \u2013 due to take place at the Crich Tramway Village on Saturday 17<sup>th<\/sup> September 2022. The one day event is the main enthusiast orientated event of the year and should see the usual mix of photo line-ups, works cars in operation and an intensive tram service running.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>2022 is the 70<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary since the last trams ran in London and also marks 60 years since the closure of the Glasgow tram system and these two systems will be featuring as part of the two main depot fan photo line-ups during the day. At 1100 it will be the Glasgow 60<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary since closure line-up with the London Trams line-up set to be at 1500.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, recently returned to service London pair, <strong>London United Tramways 159<\/strong> and <strong>London Transport 1622<\/strong> will be displayed on the street for photos before the service begins whist those two will start the tram service at 1130. Trams will run throughout the day until 1700 when it the last trams will have a Glasgow theme featuring <strong>Glasgow 22<\/strong> and <strong>Liverpool 869<\/strong> (ex-<strong>Glasgow 1055<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>As in recent years it is planned that all available trams will run in service with some being designated all day cars, others morning only and others afternoon only \u2013 but there should still be a healthy mix of variety on offer throughout the day, including <strong>Blackpool &amp; Fleetwood 40<\/strong> as an all day car along with <strong>London United Tramways 159<\/strong>, <strong>London Passenger Transport Board 1622<\/strong> and <strong>Glasgow 22<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Details of the event are still provisional and may be subject to change, depending on weather, tram availability and staff availability but the current plan is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>0945-1015: Curtain Raiser \u2013 Chance for photos of <strong>London United Tramways 159<\/strong> and <strong>London Passenger Transport Board 1622<\/strong> in the street<\/p>\n<p>1000-1030: Photographic opportunities on the Depot Fan as cars enter service<\/p>\n<p>1030-1130: Shunting on the Depot Fan, including the opportunity to see trams on the Traverser<\/p>\n<p>1130-1200: 70<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary of London Closure \u2013 tram service commences with <strong>LUT 159<\/strong> and <strong>LPTB 1622<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1030-1200: Intensive tram service in operation including Works Cars<\/p>\n<p>1100-1130: Glasgow 60<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary since Closure line-up on Depot Fan<\/p>\n<p>1200-1400: Trams return to depot for lunch with photo opportunities on the depot fan<\/p>\n<p>1300-1500: Belper Town Band playing on the Bandstand<\/p>\n<p>1400-1700: Intensive tram service in operation including Works Cars<\/p>\n<p>1500-1600: London Trams line-up on Depot Fan<\/p>\n<p>1630: Shunting on depot fan as trams return to depot<\/p>\n<p>1700: Last Tram \u2013 60<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary of Glasgow Closure to be operated by <strong>Glasgow 22<\/strong> and <strong>Liverpool 869<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There will also be a book sale in the Learning Centre<\/p>\n<p>Trams are scheduled to run as follows:<\/p>\n<p>AM only \u2013 Blackpool 167, Metropolitan Electric Tramways 331, Leeds 399, Sheffield 510<\/p>\n<p>PM only \u2013 Sheffield 74, Leeds 180, Blackpool 630, Liverpool 869<\/p>\n<p>All day \u2013 Chesterfield 7, Glasgow 22, London United Tramways 159, Blackpool &amp; Fleetwood 40, Blackpool 236, Oporto 273, London Passenger Transport Board 1622<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The latest programme of events will be available on the Crich Tramway Village at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tramway.co.uk\/whatson\/tram-day-3\/\">https:\/\/www.tramway.co.uk\/whatson\/tram-day-3\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please note the plan of events for Tram Day has been changed since this article was published.
