{"id":46060,"date":"2022-08-13T18:00:26","date_gmt":"2022-08-13T17:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=46060"},"modified":"2022-08-13T14:32:06","modified_gmt":"2022-08-13T13:32:06","slug":"around-the-world-in-trams-lviv-depot-number-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=46060","title":{"rendered":"Around the World in Trams: Lviv Depot Number 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our time in Lviv comes to an end as we take one final look at the tramway in February 1994 as part of our \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d series.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Depot Number 1 is at the end of a short non-passenger branch along Horodotska St near the main railway station. It was adjacent to the terminus of Lviv\u2019s first electric tramway which served the city\u2019s pre-1904 railway station on the same site, with the tram route designed to transport passengers arriving by rail to the site of the 1894 General Regional Exhibition. The depot, although rebuilt, is still in use today.<\/p>\n<p>Our first photo shows Gotha works car <strong>11<\/strong> and a trailer of what looks like salt in the depot yard. The building in the background with the tall brick chimney was the original power station for the tramway. <strong>11<\/strong>, which would have provided a very chilly ride on its rear platform, still survived in 2019 although dumped and in a very poor condition.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=46061\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-46061\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-46061\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.11-db-550x367.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.11-db-550x367.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.11-db-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.11-db-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.11-db.jpg 1277w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And then the final shot shows out-of-use cars in the depot yard in the late evening light \u2013 or lack of it.
