{"id":45993,"date":"2022-08-08T21:00:59","date_gmt":"2022-08-08T20:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=45993"},"modified":"2022-08-08T20:52:07","modified_gmt":"2022-08-08T19:52:07","slug":"in-pictures-birmingham-eastside-extension-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=45993","title":{"rendered":"In Pictures: Birmingham Eastside extension update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amongst the opening of the Birmingham Westside extension, splitting of the Brierley Hill line into two phases and the continuing delays to the Wolverhampton Railway Station extension, there is one other extension being built on the West Midlands Metro \u2013 the Birmingham Eastside line. Due to run for 1.7km it will leave the current Birmingham City Centre line at the Bull Street\/Corporation Street delta junction (installed last year) and travel to High Street Deritend via the HS2 railway station at Curzon Street.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Work has been ongoing on the project since last year and although some sections have seen work paused during the Commonwealth Games with temporary surfaces put down and barriers removed there is still progress being made elsewhere on the line.<\/p>\n<p>There remains no official opening date for the extension as Midland Metro Alliance continue to work alongside the developers of the HS2 station to ensure a smooth delivery process.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_45994\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=45994\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-45994\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45994\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-45994\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.eastside-kj-550x368.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.eastside-kj-550x368.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.eastside-kj-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.eastside-kj-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.eastside-kj.jpg 1287w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-45994\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We start off at the far end of the line \u2013 High Street Deritend \u2013 with a view looking towards the city.
