{"id":45730,"date":"2022-07-13T21:00:53","date_gmt":"2022-07-13T20:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=45730"},"modified":"2022-07-13T18:29:59","modified_gmt":"2022-07-13T17:29:59","slug":"in-pictures-east-anglia-transport-museum-celebrates-40-years-of-the-woodland-tramway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=45730","title":{"rendered":"In Pictures:  East Anglia Transport Museum celebrates 40 years of the woodland tramway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The recent London Event at the East Anglia Transport Museum \u2013 70 years since the last tram and 60 years since the last trolleybus in the capital \u2013 also saw another more local anniversary celebrated during the events which took place over the weekend of 9<sup>th<\/sup> and 10<sup>th<\/sup> July. While earlier in the year there was a celebration for the 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the museum itself, 11<sup>th<\/sup> July marked 40 years since the tramway was extended into the woods.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>To mark the occasion, stalwart tram <strong>Blackpool 159<\/strong> was decorated with bunting \u2013 as it was at the 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary event at the end of May \u2013 and signs to commemorate the anniversary. It was 11<sup>th<\/sup> July 1982 that trams started running into the woods with track being used from the former Erith tram depot along with pointwork from Lowestoft and Dundee Corporation systems. More recently some of the track on the curve leading into the woods was replaced by rails rescued from the old Transperience attraction in Bradford.<\/p>\n<p>As well as the commemoration of the opening of the woodland extension, the London Event also saw many of the resident London trolleybuses in action alongside London buses (both resident and visiting) and taxis. <strong>London HR\/2 tram 1858<\/strong> was also in use and there were local bus services too.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_45731\" style=\"width: 423px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=45731\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-45731\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45731\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-45731\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/1.159-tm-413x550.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"413\" height=\"550\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/1.159-tm-413x550.jpg 413w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/1.159-tm-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/1.159-tm.jpg 955w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 413px) 100vw, 413px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-45731\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Blackpool 159 all dressed up to commemorate the 40th anniversary.
