{"id":45635,"date":"2022-07-11T22:00:11","date_gmt":"2022-07-11T21:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=45635"},"modified":"2022-07-11T19:53:18","modified_gmt":"2022-07-11T18:53:18","slug":"get-your-2023-diaries-out-for-special-events-on-the-isle-of-man","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=45635","title":{"rendered":"Get your 2023 diaries out for special events on the Isle of Man!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We may not have even got as far as the Summer Transport Festival on the Isle of Man (27<sup>th<\/sup> to 31<sup>st<\/sup> July in case you need reminding) but attention is already turning to 2023 when the Summer Festival will be lengthened to a full week and there will also be an additional event in September as the island celebrates the 150<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the opening of the Douglas to Peel railway line and the 130<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Manx Electric Railway.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Summer Transport Festival will run from Sunday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> until Sunday 30<sup>th<\/sup> July and the extra three days for the event will allow even more heritage transport fun to be had by all. Whilst its still too early to give a lot of details, Isle of Man Transport have announced that the following will be happening:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Steam loco Caledonia on tour<\/li>\n<li>Isle of Man Steam Railway Cavalcade<\/li>\n<li>Steam on the Manx Electric Railway returns!<\/li>\n<li>Family Fayre Days<\/li>\n<li>Workshop Tours<\/li>\n<li>Motorman Taster Sessions<\/li>\n<li>Photography Specials<\/li>\n<li>Special events on the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway<\/li>\n<li>Plus many other surprises!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And if that wasn\u2019t enough for you, Sunday 10<sup>th<\/sup> September will see a further special event to help celebrate the 130<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Manx Electric Railway. Although the official anniversary will be on 7<sup>th<\/sup> September its been decided to celebrate the occasion on the Sunday to allow as many as possible to join in the celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>With the Isle of Man Steam Railway line from Douglas to Peel celebrating its 150<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary in 2023, there will also be a special day of events on Saturday 1<sup>st<\/sup> July (it was Thursday 1<sup>st<\/sup> July 1873 that services began).
