{"id":45407,"date":"2022-06-14T20:00:13","date_gmt":"2022-06-14T19:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=45407"},"modified":"2022-06-14T19:23:58","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T18:23:58","slug":"light-rail-services-to-be-affected-by-national-rail-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=45407","title":{"rendered":"Light rail services to be affected by national rail strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although the national rail strike announced for 21st, 23<sup>rd<\/sup> and 25<sup>th<\/sup> June does not directly included staff working on any tram or light rail system in the UK there will be some impact on services where track is shared with Network Rail. Services on Manchester Metrolink, Stagecoach Supertram and Tyne and Wear Metro will all be operating a revised service on all three days.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The strike takes place on Tuesday 21<sup>st<\/sup>, Thursday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> and Saturday 25<sup>th<\/sup> June but there is also the potential for further disruption in between the dates with many railway companies issuing an advisory do not travel from Tuesday 21<sup>st<\/sup> until Saturday 25<sup>th<\/sup> June. But what of tram\/light rail systems?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Manchester Metrolink<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The majority of the network will run as normal \u2013 with additional double units allocated to service \u2013 with the exception to the Altrincham line from Timperley to Altrincham.<\/p>\n<p>The following services will run:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>0600-0700 \u2013 Piccadilly to Timperley only<\/li>\n<li>0700-1900 \u2013 Piccadilly to Altrincham (every 12 minutes), Bury to Timperley (every 12 minutes)<\/li>\n<li>1900-0000 \u2013 Piccadilly to Timperley only<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Stagecoach Supertram<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The conventional tram network will run as normal but there will be changes to the Tram-Train service.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday 21<sup>st<\/sup>, Thursday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> and Saturday 25<sup>th<\/sup> June<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First departure from Cathedral at 0727 and first return trip from Rotherham Parkgate at 0759 with an hourly service until 1727 from Cathedral and 1759 from Parkgate.<\/li>\n<li>Services unable to run to Rotherham Parkgate will operate as additional journeys on the Yellow route between Cathedral and Meadowhall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Wednesday 22<sup>nd<\/sup> and Friday 24<sup>th<\/sup> June<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First departure from Cathedral at 0700 with a return from Rotherham Parkgate at 0732. A normal service will then run for the rest of the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tyne &amp; Wear Metro<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The section between Pelaw and South Hylton will see no service on strike days. The remainder of the network will run as usual.<\/p>\n<p>Although there will be no bus replacement services during the week, on Saturday 25<sup>th<\/sup> there will as there were due to be engineering works anyway.
