{"id":43346,"date":"2022-01-13T21:00:06","date_gmt":"2022-01-13T21:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=43346"},"modified":"2022-01-13T18:47:24","modified_gmt":"2022-01-13T18:47:24","slug":"in-pictures-45-enters-service-on-west-midlands-metro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=43346","title":{"rendered":"In Pictures: 45 enters service on West Midlands Metro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>45<\/strong> has become the fifth of the new Urbos 100 trams to enter service on the West Midlands Metro \u2013 being used in service for the first time on Thursday 13<sup>th<\/sup> January 2022. 45 follows on from <strong>38<\/strong>, <strong>39<\/strong>, <strong>40<\/strong> and <strong>42<\/strong> which all entered service during December.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>45<\/strong> is actually the last of the Urbos 100s to have been delivered to the West Midlands so far (a further 13 are due to follow by 2023) with it arriving at Wednesbury Depot on 10<sup>th<\/sup> November 2021. This makes it the quickest CAF built tram \u2013 including the original Urbos3s \u2013 to carry passengers following its delivery coming in at just over two months (the previous quickest was <strong>25<\/strong> which was delivered on 24<sup>th<\/sup> June 2014 and accepted for service on 3<sup>rd<\/sup> September 2014).<\/p>\n<p>Since arrival <strong>45<\/strong> has been seen on testing and fault free mileage accumulation and with this work now completed it was cleared to join the operational fleet which it duly did on 13<sup>th<\/sup> January 2022.<\/p>\n<p><strong>45<\/strong> is the first new tram to enter service since 18<sup>th<\/sup> December 2021 with the service continuing to only run between Wolverhampton St George\u2019s and Bull Street. 10 trams are usually required to maintain the reduced service although on occasions recently only seven have been in action with no \u201cnew\u201d Urbos3s having returned to action after their repairs for several weeks either.
