Benton was a much-loved cat who was frequently found at\u00a0 the tramstop and was popular amongst commuters, tram users and local residents.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Benton had a love for sitting at the tramstop and warmly greeting residents and tram users. This inspired a huge community reaction, national media interest and his own Twitter page!<\/p>\n<p>His owner, Ginny Hicks, confirmed in the summer that he had sadly died and received a huge number of tributes to Benton and as a result plans were put in place to create a memorial to celebrate Benton and the fond memories he inspired amongst tram users.<\/p>\n<p>Stephanie Moss-Pearce, from Nottingham Express Transit, said: \u201cBenton the tram stop cat was a local hero that put a smile on the face of everyone he met, helping the important role of the tram in bringing communities together. We hope the memorial unveiled today is a fitting tribute to Benton and the fond memories he brought to tram users and local residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The memorial was unveiled on Monday 13<sup>th<\/sup> December and can be found at Inham Road tramstop.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Go Fund Me page has been setup by Benton\u2019s owner to help Mansfield Cat Rescue who helped during the search for the cat.
