{"id":42705,"date":"2021-12-04T14:00:24","date_gmt":"2021-12-04T14:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=42705"},"modified":"2021-12-03T19:15:32","modified_gmt":"2021-12-03T19:15:32","slug":"around-the-world-in-trams-melbourne-scrubber-car-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=42705","title":{"rendered":"Around the World in Trams: Melbourne Scrubber Car 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This edition of \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d again returns to the Ballarat Tramway Museum to view a preserved works car.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board <strong>Scrubber Car 8<\/strong> was built in 1934 using the cabs from C class tram no. <strong>32<\/strong>. It continued to be used on the tramway all the way through until the late 1990s when it was withdrawn, by which time it had been renumbered <strong>8W<\/strong>. 1999 saw it donated to the Ballarat Tram Museum and within two years it was back in use again.
