There look set to more strike affecting Nottingham Express Transit after it was confirmed by the GMB Union that their members had rejected the 11% increase offered over a three year period. The news was met by disappointment by Nottingham Express Transit who are now braced for further disruption although at this stage no new strike dates have been set by the union.<\/p>\n

As a reminder of the latest offer there would be an 11% rise for staff over a three year period. This would have been split as 3% for 2020 (fully backdated and paid immediately), 4% for 2021 (backdated to 1st<\/sup> June) and then a further 4% from June 2022. In addition NET would have offered enhancements to other benefits.<\/p>\n This offer was put to GMB Union members in mid-November which saw the planned strike on 23rd<\/sup> November suspended but the results of this ballot have now shown that there remains support for further action which will now follow on a date to be advised. So far one day of strike action has taken place on Saturday 6th<\/sup> November.<\/p>\n A spokesperson from GMB said: \u201cThe latest offer was a last-minute job, hastily put together by the company after months of missed opportunities to resolve this. The company has had months to agree an offer which meets the modest aspirations of Nottingham tram workers; a pay rise in line with inflation that sets Nottingham tram workers on track to have pay parity with tram workers in other parts of the country. GMB members presented a compromise position, which the company have refused to consider. The decision to delay strike action was an act of good faith on the part of GMB members as they reviewed the offer, however it\u2019s clear NTL has again fallen short and Nottingham\u2019s tram workers will be forced to take action to win pay justice.\u201d<\/p>\n In response to the decision to reject the offer a spokesperson from NET commented: \u201cWe are again disappointed that union members have rejected our latest offer, which will see pay increases totalling 11% by June 2022. In the current economic climate this represents a fair and sustainable proposal that is above the rate of inflation.
