{"id":41939,"date":"2021-10-16T18:00:12","date_gmt":"2021-10-16T17:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=41939"},"modified":"2021-10-16T15:41:20","modified_gmt":"2021-10-16T14:41:20","slug":"welcome-the-trambassadors-in-nottingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=41939","title":{"rendered":"Welcome the Trambassadors in Nottingham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nottingham Express Transit\u2019s new Corporation Social Responsibility Strategy is currently being introduced and one of the first strands of this is the introduction of \u201cTrambassadors\u201d. Two young children from Alderman Pounder Infant and Nursey School in Chilwell have become the first \u201cTrambassadors\u201d in the city with the aim to provide an important community link for NET as well as providing learning opportunities for children.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Tim Hesketh, CEO of Tramlink Nottingham, said: \u201cWe want to engage with schools and local children so we can work even more closely with the communities we are proud to serve. We\u2019re looking forward to hearing from our young Trambassadors about what we can do to improve as well as discussing the importance of safety around the tram network.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alfie Daniels and Ariadne Van Krimpen are the first two \u201cTrambassadors\u201d and they will sit on the school\u2019s \u201cChildren\u2019s Government\u201d and represent pupils from the school on the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The Trambassador scheme will include a mix of classroom-based and hands-on learning that fits in with the school curriculum and will also be looking at wider topics including STEM, sustainability and green infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>This all ties in with NET\u2019s new Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy that seeks to show out they will make a difference in four areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Environment \u2013 underlining the role of sustainable transport powered by 100% green, renewable energy and playing a role in ensuring Nottingham becomes the UK\u2019s first carbon neutral city by 2028<\/li>\n<li>Customer Satisfaction \u2013 putting passengers at the heart of every decision and improving customer satisfaction<\/li>\n<li>Fair Operating Practices \u2013 embedding the highest ethical practices and responsible procurement through supply chain management<\/li>\n<li>Community \u2013 providing jobs, skills and training opportunities as well as supporting local schools, charities and good causes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Commenting on the new strategy, Tim Hesketh added: \u201che tram is more than just a transport network and we take our responsibility to our customers, local communities, suppliers and the environment very seriously.
