{"id":41210,"date":"2021-08-27T18:00:01","date_gmt":"2021-08-27T17:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=41210"},"modified":"2021-08-21T20:43:38","modified_gmt":"2021-08-21T19:43:38","slug":"picture-in-time-blackpool-omo-11-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=41210","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Blackpool OMO 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We return to 1976 again for this latest edition of \u201cPicture in Time\u201d as we are off to Blackpool for some more views of the tramway as it was back then.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Today we are featuring <strong>OMO 11<\/strong> in two images taken in Fleetwood in the early part of September 1976. <strong>11<\/strong> was one of the 13 English Electric Railcoaches which were converted into One Man Operated trams in the 1970s with this particular example having started off life as no. <strong>268<\/strong> (renumbered <strong>615<\/strong>). It entered service as an OMO in May 1975 so by the time of this photo it was just over a year old, at least in this condition anyway. It would remain in service until 18<sup>th<\/sup> March 1993 when it became the last of the class to run in normal service. Sold on for testing purposes it would eventually be scrapped.<\/p>\n<p>In this first view we see <strong>11<\/strong> passing St Peter\u2019s Church in Lord Street, Fleetwood (a church which frequently gets included in shots of trams in the centre of Fleetwood). In the background of this shot there seems to either be some trackworks or roadworks taking place (or about to). At this time there was some ribbon welding being undertaken by the German firm Elektro-Thermit although its not known if this is what was happening here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=41211\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-41211\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-41211\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/1.11-db-550x372.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/1.11-db-550x372.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/1.11-db-1024x693.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/1.11-db-768x519.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/1.11-db.jpg 1245w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then in this second image we take another look at <strong>11<\/strong> in its Red and White livery as it negotiates the curve through Albert Square in Fleetwood.
