It includes details of which motors and trailers were allocated to service along with interesting events.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday 22<sup>nd<\/sup> July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NO MER service today<\/p>\n<p>Apparently cars <strong>7<\/strong> and <strong>14<\/strong> were out on short workings on MER today despite it being a non-running day.\u00a0 Possibly on test\/drying out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>MER allocations:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>D1: 19+47<\/p>\n<p>D2: 22+44<\/p>\n<p>D3: 6+48<\/p>\n<p>D4: 1+43<\/p>\n<p>Evening: 5 (+47), 21(+41)\u00a0 trailers on first runs only<\/p>\n<p><em>Notes:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>1) The work above Bungallow involves creating a concrete cess and run offs, replacing track and fell rail.\u00a0\u00a0 (inside line) This will be in force all season.<\/p>\n<p>2) The MER closure north of Lewaigue is due to the embankment failing and a wall dropping into the garden of one of the houses in Ramsey. Looks like closed for some time, no work carried out so far.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (sea side line)<\/p>\n<p>3) The MER closure Groudle \u2013 Ballameanagh (sea side) for track renewal.\u00a0 Should be completed this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday 24<sup>th<\/sup> July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Visited Queens Pier and North of island today<\/p>\n<p>Two tram failures today: Car <strong>1<\/strong> with a failed controller and car <strong>5<\/strong> with a blown traction motor<\/p>\n<p><em>Known MER allocations:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>D1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 21+43<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday 25<sup>th<\/sup> July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>D1 : 22+44<\/p>\n<p>D2: 21+43<\/p>\n<p>D3: 1+41<\/p>\n<p>D4: 20+48<\/p>\n<p>Spl: 6+47\u00a0 (6 on test)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday 26<sup>th<\/sup> July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No service on MER today<\/p>\n<p>Notes: Car <strong>14<\/strong> out on private hire.\u00a0 Car <strong>2<\/strong> expected out on test, not seen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday 27<sup>th<\/sup> July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>MER allocations:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>D1: 22+44<\/p>\n<p>D2: 21+41<\/p>\n<p>D3: 6+43<\/p>\n<p>D4: 20+47<\/p>\n<p><em>Notes:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>1) The long single line section Groudle to Ballameanagh now reopened for full double track<\/p>\n<p>2) Overhead issue with a drooping pole arm delaying services on SMR<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday 28<sup>th<\/sup> July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>MER allocations:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>D1: 20+47<\/p>\n<p>D2: 21+44*<\/p>\n<p>D3: 22+43**<\/p>\n<p>D4: 19+48<\/p>\n<p>* start of day, from Laxey took over D3 diagram<\/p>\n<p>** failed first departure, later covered Laxey \u2013 Douglas portion of D2 diagram<\/p>\n<p><em>Notes:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>1) Car <strong>22<\/strong> failed in service on D3 first departure at 10.40 from Douglas.\u00a0 The D2 set of <strong>21<\/strong>+<strong>44<\/strong> was held at Laxey and then took over D3 diagram whilst <strong>22<\/strong> was repaired.<\/p>\n<p>2) Due to above the two D2 departures from Ramsey were cancelled with a still poorly car <strong>22<\/strong> running the Laxey \u2013 Douglas portions of the diagram.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday 29<sup>th<\/sup> July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No MER service<\/p>\n<p>Cars <strong>2<\/strong>, <strong>4<\/strong> and <strong>5<\/strong> covered all Snaefell departures during the week<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Photos from this week can be found in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/gallery960.html\">Gallery 960<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David Mee has recently spent some time on the Isle of Man and in this report we see what was out on the Manx Electric Railway (and Snaefell Mountain Railway) in the week between 22nd and 29th July.
