Nexus have released a timelapse video of the demolition work which has taken place at the Tyne and Wear Metro Gosforth Depot from the start of work last winter. The video showcases the first six months of the project to redevelop the depot and shows the old building being razed to the ground up to the more recent enabling and foundation works. This article also takes a pictorial look at some of the recent progress seen at the depot.<\/p>\n

The footage has been shot by VolkerFitzpatrick who have been contracted to building the new depot \u2013 with Thompson\u2019s of Prudhoe being sub-contracted for the demolition. Work is due to be completed by 2025 with work having started in April on laying new tracks which involves boring hollow steel tubes into the ground and filling them with concrete. Foundation work on the main building has started and a second phase of demolition (including the removal of an old stabling shed to the west of the depot) will take place later this year.<\/p>\n
