{"id":39848,"date":"2021-06-07T22:00:56","date_gmt":"2021-06-07T21:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=39848"},"modified":"2021-06-07T16:39:17","modified_gmt":"2021-06-07T15:39:17","slug":"in-pictures-heaton-park-tramway-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=39848","title":{"rendered":"In Pictures: Heaton Park Tramway returns!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Its been a great week for the Heaton Park Tramway as quickly following on from the news they have been Queen\u2019s Award for Voluntary Service they are now back running again for the first time in 2021 \u2013 and the first normal operation since the pandemic began. On Saturday 5<sup>th<\/sup> June to mark the occasion Pete Waterman was on hand to officially open the tramway which will now be operating at weekends for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The first day of service saw two trams in passenger action with the stunningly restored <strong>Stockport 5<\/strong> in action alongside <strong>Blackpool 623<\/strong> while <strong>Hull 96<\/strong> was in use on Taster Tram Driving Experiences. Things got underway shortly before midday when Pete Waterman made a speech to officially reopen the tramway before a special VIP tram service took place ahead of normal services running.<\/p>\n<p>As you expect in these Covid times things aren\u2019t quite 100% normal yet with services starting and ending at Lakeside and all passengers having to alight there to allow for the sanitising of the trams before the next service runs.
