{"id":39284,"date":"2021-05-01T14:00:53","date_gmt":"2021-05-01T13:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=39284"},"modified":"2021-04-30T19:58:18","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T18:58:18","slug":"around-the-world-in-trams-ueno-zoo-tokyo-monorail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=39284","title":{"rendered":"Around the World in Trams: Ueno Zoo, Tokyo Monorail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This time in \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d we make a brief stop in Japan with something a little bit different as we feature a monorail which used to operate at Uneo Zoo in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Ueno Zoo Monorail opened on 17<sup>th<\/sup> December 1957 and operated almost constantly until 31<sup>st<\/sup> October 2019 (save for a suspension in 2001-2) when it was closed due to the high costs needed to replace the vehicles. When it did run it used to operate every seven minutes between 0940 and 1630 when the zoo was open.
