{"id":39170,"date":"2021-04-21T22:00:55","date_gmt":"2021-04-21T21:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=39170"},"modified":"2021-04-21T16:39:04","modified_gmt":"2021-04-21T15:39:04","slug":"manx-electric-railway-and-snaefell-mountain-railway-announce-the-start-of-a-new-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=39170","title":{"rendered":"Manx Electric Railway and Snaefell Mountain Railway announce the start of a new season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For anyone on the Isle of Man who has been missing their fix of the Isle of Man Transport run heritage railways and tramways the news they have been waiting for is in \u2013 services will resume on the Manx Electric Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway and Isle of Man Steam Railway in May!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As with the curtailed 2020 season services won\u2019t be running seven days a week, until at least 18<sup>th<\/sup> July, which is when operating dates have been confirmed as far at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>Although we are primarily a tram website in order for completeness the dates and services for all three are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Manx Electric Railway<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Service starts from Saturday 22<sup>nd<\/sup> May and will run every Saturday and Sunday until Sunday 18<sup>th<\/sup> July plus Monday 31<sup>st<\/sup> May, Thursday 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, Friday 4<sup>th<\/sup>, Thursday 10<sup>th<\/sup> and Friday 11<sup>th<\/sup> June then Fridays 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, 9<sup>th<\/sup> and 16<sup>th<\/sup> July.<\/p>\n<p>Timetable C will operate requiring 4 car sets. This sees eight return trips from Derby Castle to Ramsey with the first departure north at 0940 and last departure from Ramsey at 1640. There is also an additional Derby Castle-Laxey service at 1610 and 1655 return.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snaefell Mountain Railway<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Service starts from Saturday 29<sup>th<\/sup> May and will then run on the same dates as the Manx Electric Railway<\/p>\n<p>Timetable C will operate with half hourly departures from Laxey to the Summit between 1015 and 1545 (return trips between 1110 and 1640).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isle of Man Steam Railway<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Service starts from Thursday 27<sup>th<\/sup> May, operating every Saturday and Sunday until Sunday 18<sup>th<\/sup> July. Also running Friday 28<sup>th<\/sup> and Monday 31<sup>st<\/sup> May, Thursday 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, Friday 4<sup>th<\/sup>, Thursday 10<sup>th<\/sup>, Friday 11<sup>th<\/sup> June and Fridays 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, 9<sup>th<\/sup> and 16<sup>th<\/sup> July.<\/p>\n<p>Timetable R will run giving 4 return trips daily between Douglas and Port Erin. In addition on Friday 4<sup>th<\/sup> June and Friday 2<sup>nd<\/sup> July Dining Car timetable C will run (early morning departure from Port Erin plus a return evening trip from Douglas)<\/p>\n<p>As mentioned above only the dates until Sunday 18<sup>th<\/sup> July have been announced with further details to follow later in the year beyond this.
